A projekt átfogó célja, hogy a szociális rászoruló rétegek számára további segítségnyújtási lehetőségeket tárjunk fel és valósítsunk meg. A két partnerszervezet (magyarországi önkormányzat és szerbiai civil szervezet) együttműködésével, tapasztalataik és jó gyakorlataik átadásával olyan innovatív megoldáscsomagok és szervezeti fejlesztések tudnak létrejönni, amelyek további példaként fognak szolgálni a szociális ellátás területén mindkét országban.

A projekt egy olyan átfogó stratégia mentén valósul meg, amelynek alapja a hatékony élelmiszergyűjtés, az erre kidolgozandó módszerek, az optimalizált és helyben működő elosztási csatornák és azok működtetése, valamint az élelmiszerpazarlás elleni újszerű megközelítések tesztelése és a jól működő megoldások integrálása a már meglévő folyamatokba.

A megvalósítás keretei között több, szektorokon átívelő workshop, megbeszélés, egyeztetés fog lezajlani, aminek az a célja, hogy összekösse a különböző szereplőket, feltárja céljaikat és lehetőségeiket a kidolgozott stratégia megvalósítása érdekében.

A projekt 2024. szeptember 1-én indult, és 18 hónapon keresztül valósul meg. A szükséges infrastruktúra fejlesztések megvalósítása mellett egy átfogó stratégia elkészítésére, tanulmányutakra, több napos workshopokra, önkéntes képzési programra, tájékoztató előadásokra, illetve egy applikáció kidolgozására fogunk erőforrást biztosítani.

Encouraging cross-border cooperation of local administrations and civil organizations in the border area in the field of social protection, through improving the food security of socially vulnerable families and individuals.

The overall objective of the „Food Bank” project, which aims to encourage the cross-border cooperation among local administrations and civil organizations in the border area in the field of social care, through enhancing food security in the small local community in Hungary and Serbia, significantly contributes to the specific objectives of the Interreg VI-A IPA Hungary Serbia Programme.

Firstly, the project aligns with the Programme’s specific objective of „Harmonious neighborly relations through cooperation” under the Priority 3: Cross-border institutional and civil cooperation. By bringing together a small local community from Hungary and the Food Bank from Serbia, the project promotes collaboration and mutual understanding between the two neighboring regions. This collaboration not only addresses the immediate issue of food insecurity but also serves as a platform for building long-term harmonious relationships and strengthening ties between the communities.

Secondly, the project directly supports the Programme’s objective of promoting cross-border institutional and civil cooperation. Through joint actions, such as the development of a comprehensive strategy, implementation of efficient food collection activities, establishment of a digital platform, provision of training for volunteers, procurement and renovation of a suitable facility, and support for cross-border collaboration, the project enhances institutional and civil cooperation between the participating entities. It fosters partnerships, knowledge exchange, and joint decision-making processes, all of which contribute to sustainable cross-border cooperation and regional development. It aligns with the Programme’s broader goals of promoting social cohesion, reducing inequalities, and enhancing the overall quality of life in the cross-border region.

In the 21st century, amidst drones flying overhead, electric cars on the roads, evolving computers and phones, and engaging in conversations with AI, not far from these remarkable civilizational advancements – SOME PEOPLE ARE HUNGRY.

Drawing inspiration from Maslow’s motivation theory, the „Food Bank” project recognises that fulfilling basic human needs is a prerequisite for further development. This project aims to address food insecurity and foster cross-border cooperation between a small local community in Hungary and the Food Bank in Serbia by providing nutritious food to individuals facing challenging social circumstances.

By focusing on the fundamental need for food, the project aims to create a solid foundation for individuals to pursue higher goals and aspirations. The project’s objective is to enhance food security, promote harmonious neighbourly relations, and improve the overall well-being of vulnerable populations.

To achieve these objectives, the project will employ a collaborative approach. It will begin by developing a comprehensive strategy that encompasses efficient food collection methods, optimised distribution channels, and innovative approaches to reduce food waste. Through activities such as food drives, establishment of collection points, and safe transportation of donated food items, the project will ensure the provision of essential sustenance.

Recognising the significance of efficient operations, the project will establish a joint digital platform to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of food bank operations. This platform will enable real-time tracking of food donations, scheduling of pickups, and reporting on food distribution activities, streamlining the process and maximising impact.

Furthermore, the project will focus on capacity building by providing training programs for volunteers. These programs will empower volunteers with the necessary skills in food handling, community outreach, and client support, enabling them to contribute effectively to food collection and distribution efforts.

In order to establish a necessary infrastructure, the project will procure and install a suitable prefabricated facility for the assembly and storage of donated food items. The facility will be equipped with the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and refrigeration systems to ensure proper handling and preservation of food.

Beyond immediate food assistance, the „Food Bank” project will foster cross-border cooperation by promoting collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint decision-making processes. Joint strategy will be developed in order to provide possible solutions for the joint problem. It will facilitate the sharing of best practices, experiences, and lessons learned betweenMunicipality of Ásotthalom in Hungary and the Food Bank in Serbia, strengthening ties and building lasting relationships.

By addressing the basic human need for food, the project aims to uplift individuals and communities.
